Dennis Dillon Biography
A self-taught musician, Dennis Dillon is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and singer, skilled on acoustic and electric guitars, slide and lap-steel guitars, dobro and National Steel guitars, harmonica, mandolin, 5-string banjo and bass guitar. Playing primarily original music, his influences are nonetheless rooted in traditional American folk and blues, rhythm and blues, country, rockabilly and rock and roll.
He is also a luthier (guitar builder and restorer), guitar and string-instrument instructor, guitar historian, mentor, composer, storyteller and actor. However, none of these titles can really convey the unique warmth, humor and eccentric personality of Dennis Dillon, his music and entertainment.
Dillon grew up in Chicago in the 1950's. In the mid 1960's Dennis began to develop his craft as a multi-instrumentalist and luthier in the acquisition and restoration of various string instruments. After High School, Dillon moved to Phoenix, Arizona while still in his teens, becoming a guitar-building instructor in one of the first luthier schools in the country.
